VIDEO: Seaweed saves mother and baby

Doctors in Hull have saved the life of a pregnant woman and her baby with a pioneering treatment that uses fibre from seaweed.

Rapeewan Parcell from Bridlington was diagnosed with potentially life-threatening condition called pre-eclampsia.

Mrs Parcell lost six pints of blood after giving birth. Instead of using conventional drugs, medical staff at Hull Royal Infirmary and Hull Women’s and Children’s Hospital applied the vegetation to help stem the bleeding.

Sarah Corker reports.
